One Gear Left is an anonymous blog launched in May 2026. Hatched by a career woman who moonlights as an amateur writer, this site serves as a countdown to my next adventure.

In September 2023, my partner and I (we had known each other for four months) decided we wanted to bike the length of South America. Originally, we planned to ditch modern society and live on the road beginning in February 2024. The dream of long-term travel felt as outlandish then as it does now except I'm more prepared financially. The mental, emotional and spiritual sides are a work in progress.

My departure date is May 28, 2027 (or thereabout). The one year countdown has begun! The pages here map the twists, turns, detours and road closures of the journey. I hope you'll follow along and that my experience helps you navigate your own way.
